Mic Carlson’s Artprize 2009

For those of you who don’t know what Artprize is, let me explain.  Last year was the first ever international art competition held in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The exhibition was from September 23 to October 10, 2009.  Artists from all over the United States and even Europe competed for the first prize of $250,000, combined with other prizes cummulatively amounting to half a million dollars. There were no jurors last year but voting was as they say “American Idol” style…cast by YOU the people who visited the exhibit.

Last year I was in the top 25 artists out of a total of 1262.  I later found out that I was a few votes away from being in the top ten!  This just etches in deep the fact that YOUR VOTE counts!
